Educational Programs

2nd Chance Reptiles offers a wide range of educational programs for all ages with a unique combination of "hands-on" learning and information...an excellent way to learn and interact with many types of reptiles, amphibians, and arachnids.

Snakes, lizards, frogs, tarantula's, and scorpions will be presented to you, many of which can be handled (with the exception of scorpions and frogs), so you can see AND feel what these often misunderstood animals are all about, how they live, and their place in the wild and as pets.

There are many misconceptions regarding reptiles, and those of us at 2nd Chance Reptiles will help to dispel some of the myths and mysteries surrounding reptiles.

ALL programs include a handout full of useful information and well-known myths about reptiles.

Basic Program:

In addition to learning about reptiles and their place in nature, this basic program is designed for those who are on a restricted time schedule. Included in the Basic Program are the following animals:

• 1 Kingsnake
• 1 Cornsnake
• 2 Lizards (Bearded Dragon & Savannah Monitor)
• 1 Tarantula • 1 Scorpion

Junior Herpetologist Program:

Not only will you learn about reptiles, we will also discuss the differences between the many types of reptiles. You will also learn the basics about their life-cycle, how they breed in nature and captivity, their geographic location in the wild; and how reptiles have evolved and survived for millions of years.

Included in the Junior Herpetologist Program are the following animals:

• 1 Medium-sized Boa Constrictor
• 1 Small/medium Python
• 1 Kingsnake
• 1 Milksnake
• 1 Cornsnake
• 1 Ratsnake
• 2 Lizards (Green Iguana & Savannah Monitor)
• 2 Tarantula's
• 2 Scorpions
• Hissing Cockroaches

Reptile Adventure Program:

This is for the more experienced reptile lover or those learning about reptiles and their place in the Animal Kingdom. Assured to leave participants talking for weeks to come! The Reptile Adventure Program is designed to cover the taxonomy and biology of reptiles and amphibians, as well as their role in the ecosystem. Included in the Reptile Adventure Program are the following animals:

• 1 Large Boa Constrictor (5+ foot)
• 1 Medium Boa (Arboreal)
• 1 Large Python (7+foot)
• 1 Medium Python
• 1 Small Boa Constrictor
• 3 Kingsnakes
• 3 Cornsnakes
• 2 Milksnakes
• 1 Large frog (Argentine Horned-frog)
• 5 Lizards (Green Iguana , Savannah Monitor, Black-throat Monitor, Blue-tongued Skink & Bearded Dragon )
• 4 Tarantula's
• 3 Scorpions
• Hissing Cockroaches
